Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far will my message go?

A: The signal range will vary with height, frequency and environment. Because performance varies, it is important to remember that the maximum signal distance under ideal conditions can be more than a one-mile radius. Even so, the tunable coverage area - the area in which the signal is strong enough so that it sounds crisp and clear - will always be nearer to the transmitter than its overall coverage.
You can control many of the critical factors that determine the signal range.

  • Height - The higher the antenna is in the air, the better your range.
  • Frequency - The higher the frequency (toward 1620kHz), the greater your output

Q: Where should I position the transmitter?

A: The general rule is to place the transmitter as near as possible to the place where strong coverage is required.

Q: Why isn't a license required?

A: The Transmitter is limited to 100 milliwatts. No license is required under FCC Part 15.  The only rule is that care must be taken not to interfere with licensed broadcasting stations in your area.

Q: May I broadcast commercials?

A: You may broadcast anything as long as it is not damaging or offensive.
